Congratulations! Hope you have lots of fun with a new machine. Did you have a hard time choosing which one to buy?

mizzlilly -> RE: My new machine,,, (5/5/2018 3:25:35 PM)

You will love it! Congrats! Let the stitching commence!

Hopefully it made it this time,,, my D1 used to set on this table,, but this machine is about 6 in wider than that.. so this is what hubby did to get my machine set up.. haha.. he is going to router the edge of the board later so it isn't so sharp...

Carol,, well somewhat... I was originally going for a multi needle... but I have never worked on a home version.. and its been so long since I worked on a commercial version I decided I didn't remember enough about them,, so i opted for single needle,,, I knew the 3 things I was interested in the most on any machine,,,, higher speed... bigger hoop area. and more needles.. well I got 2 of those.. I was looking at the Brother innovis. 4000D,,, and newer ones.. but found a post on Pattern review,, and the difference between the Brother and the Baby lock,, Looked up the Baby Lock,, seen the bigger hoop,, and all the extras.. and I was sold,, my hubby FINALLY was really interested in me getting one.. so much so that when we went to to get it,, and I said, oh my goodness its huge,, he jokingly said,, we will hang it from the ceiling if we have to,, lol...

She's a beauty, thanks for explaining your research, I never would have thought of Pattern Review. I'm a member there but hardly ever visit anymore.

I might be a little stick in the mud here but...
Last autumn I posted about all the issues I had with my Babylock. I had gotten a Bernina 580, but the screens made me crazy. I traded up in less than a year to a Bablylock Journey. About 6 months later I started having tension issues, both top and bottom. After hearing "owner error" for months and having the machine at the shop over half the time, they finally talked to the company. I was told that Bablylock was trying to develop a bobbin that did not have to be changed from regular sewing to embroidery and that was what was causing problems. There were other problems with this machine, so less than a year I turned it in and got a Destiny2 last December. It was is a fabulous machine until recently. I now have random bobbin tension issues. Fortunately, I had purchased an additional shop warranty and that covered most of the shop's costs.

If you start having bobbin issues, please post and I can tell you more. One thing that it says in the manual is that when you insert the bobbin, hold it in place as your thread it so that the tension gets set, but you sort of have to anyhow as the plastic bobbins are light and tend to flop around a little.

Honestly, in spite of this, the machine I have is fabulous. The needle threader actually works all the time automatically! The frames are huge and I think I'm going to start a savings account just to buy the enormous amount of stabilizers they use. I'm learning to create an embroidery file from a jpg. Next I want to learn how to do an appiique from a jpg.

Also, I got a new Koala sewing cabinet to keep it in. I live in earthquake country, so being able to move the machine down close to the floor will help keep it safe incase the rest of the house falls down! Gotta keep that machine safe!

I look forward to hearing what you are creating with your machine!

Ecited for you. I would like bigger hoop size, but there is such a big jump in prices when you do that. I would like to be able to do at least an 8x8 quilt block.

Just wait until you try using the scanner. I drew a line drawing of my husband and I riding our horses. It scanned and made an embroidery design of it. Yes, I had to connect all the lines and try again - and again - But it turned out fantastic!

Oh wow...happy day! You're going to have SEW much fun with this. Congratulations!

Penny, I have had some bobbin issues,, but I think it is the thread,, I started buying Stash thread from BFC creations,, it is a tri-lobal thread,, so it is supposed to be good,, Sue just put an odd name for it,, (stash),, anyway,, I took some to the shop to try it, and it sewed great in the top area,, I got home and did a FSL design,, it looks great .. from the back side,,, haha,, it top looks like what the bobbin side should look like... so I have to experiment with other threads to see what is going on... may have to take it in next month to have it adjusted...

Bobette,, I know... for the last few years, I have just been thinking about trying to get what I want, but not spend too much,, (trying to please myself,, and my husband) but when he started getting involved this time,, things just changed,, he wanted me to get what "I" wanted,, and he was just happy I was getting something new,, or newer.. lol... he was so excited for me..... and I love the hoop size.. now all those designs that i loved but had to pass on cause they were too big,, I can get them woohoo....

Neva... It is probably going take me a while to get the upgrades loaded,, but I am looking forward to this summer to playing with it... [:)]

Beautiful! I'm buying some of her designs at those great prices she's offering each week. Do you recall which one this is?

sewbluetiful -> RE: My new machine,,, (5/15/2018 4:45:32 PM)

Carol.. its in the Classic Lace collection....

Nananeva -> RE: My new machine,,, (5/16/2018 12:58:17 AM)

I kept my BL Ellegante, which has been a great machine. Now I also have the Destiny II. BOTH of these machines have occasionally had a problem with the bobbin thread - when the thread doesn't follow the correct path. When I insert a new bobbin, I have learned to lower the presser foot and make the first stitch by turning the handwheel. Then I make certain the bobbin thread lays on TOP of the bobbin back to the needle. You can see it if it is correct. If it isn't, the machine will stitch without any tension at all on the bobbin thread. Makes a mess! Hope this is helpful.

Penny Hal -> RE: My new machine,,, (5/16/2018 4:38:11 PM)

MickieWhat beautiful lace! I'm looking forward to see what you use it on! I use very high quality thread and it doesn't matter what brand. It really is a bobbin tension issue.
,
Neva, yep. I've had terrible messes! But not at the start. It will stitch perfectly for a while, and then the bobbin thread goes beserk. So far, stopping the machine and starting it again, or rethreading everything works on the Destiny.

sewbluetiful -> RE: My new machine,,, (5/16/2018 9:50:11 PM)

Haha,, I found a video the other day on the Ellisimo group on FB,, I didn't realize so many bobbin cases came with the machine,, the one that came IN the machine is used for bobbin wt thread,,, and the tension isn't supposed to be messed with,, another case,, they send for those that used different threads,, you CAN adjust the tension on it,,, the 3rd case, is used for specialty threads....
