 Pictures on Fabric??

Hello everyone out there. I have an idea for a quilt for my fiance'. He is in the Navy and goes out to sea alot and we keep in touch with letters and pics. I just got into quilting and dont really know much but I had an idea to put some lines from the letters onto fabric and some pics of us and our son on some fabric squares and put them on a quilt for him to take with him. I know this can be done but I dont know where to begin!!! Could someone out there please help me turn this idea into a quilt!!? I would REALLY appreciate it alot!!! Thanks -

From memory there is a program where you can scan pictures and then print them onto fabric to make a quilt- a past issue of Sew Beautiful had an article on this. I will hunt down the issue and get back to you

Ok, it's issue 91 (page 81.) You need photo transfer fabric sheets which is fabric fused to paper that you can print in your normal printer.

I'm pretty sure that Martha sells them

https://store.marthapullen.com/?page=shop/browse&category_id=10&PHPSESSID=534881c6520c57c63f0f226252435813

You'll have to email Martha's store to make sure. If not, try

I think that the quilt is a great idea!!!! You have inspired me to make one for my mother of the three if us growing up for mother's day.

Walmart and Joann's have the picture transfer sheets make sure you get the fabric sheets that you just run through your printer. Rather than having to print on paper then iron on the picture on the fabric(because then you have to reverse the pictures before ironing them on).

Another good place to get the sheets - without paying for gas - is at <http://www.printedtreasures.com>

I've ordered from them and was amazed at how quickly my order came.

You can also try www.outofmymindprints.com

They have lots of different types of fabric sheets and I am sure will recommend just the right one for a quilt.

Thanks for posting that link Cindy. I have some of the fabric from Vintage Crafts (I think that's the name) but it has to be handwashed in cold water. So the Printed Treasures fabric that is machine washable sounds great. ... once I use up my stash (recently bought a BIG package)...

HP has a lot of information on their web site. . . .they, of course, want
you to use their printers. HP has been doing segments recently on America
Sews on using their printers with fabric....Hope this helps. . . .

Sorry, you have to copy/paste--I don't know how to do the hot links.
