 How is it going?
Author: Kat

Ok, guys, no postings of late. Where are you all at? How is everyone's resolutions holding up? I was so thrilled to have LOST weight over Christmas! Is that wonderful? I am now up to 48 lbs. lost. Mannnnnyyyy more to go..LOL...ah, well, not bad I guess. Only bad part is that it took me one year to do it. Others at WW have lost so much faster that I get envious sometimes. I am really working hard drinking water and added some strength training. Nothing to grand mind you as I have some health problems/limitations, but anything is a help right? I am drinking so much water that I slosh when I walk....LOL...it is funny at our small post office where I work, I get exercise running to the bathroom, drinking, and then back to the bathroom.....It is too cold here to walk outside and I just have trouble getting on that treadmill or bike. I am thinking about putting a sign on my computer that says for every 30 minutes of comp time I have to walk/ride for 10 minutes. That might motivate me since I seem to be hopelessly addicted to this forum. I have been trying some new low-fat soups etc. to keep me excited. I love to cook but unless we want GALLONS left (holdover mentality from when 3 daughters and their friends were home all the time) I have let my husband do the cooking. I am learning to scale back, but almost 30 years of kids makes it hard to cook just for two again. Well, this is now officially a novella...ROFL....just wanted to see how everyone was doing on eating better and exercising...I needed motivation!
Love to all,
Kat

How true -- it is so difficult to get use to cooking for 2-3 again--not to mention buying food in normal quantities. LOL! With all that food around, I feel obligated to use it up. Congratulations on losing 48 pounds--and keeping it up over Christmas! Actually about a pound a week is a really good weight loss. When you get discouraged, just think of where you would be without WW this past year--at least several sizes larger and lots less healthy!

After a year on WW I'm within 10 pounds of my goal. I just looked up a web site that calculates your BMI -- How exciting to have it say that I was only slightly overweight. I haven't been "slightly overweight" in 25 years! This is also the 1st year in who knows how long that I didn't have to think about the concept of where I'd be if I lost a pound a week this next year. Kat, even if you do have another 50 pounds to lose, at least you don't have to think about losing for TWO years!

My motivation went down the drain the last couple of months. I just decided this past week to "Just do it!" and not worry about motivation. It seems real easy to get in a rut. Journaling and planning are what will keep me on track. Have gained and lost the same 5 lbs over the last 3 months and it's getting expensive. Sat down and planned out my menu for the coming week - including snacks -- so I don't have to think "what will I make for supper tonight" it's all there. That helps on days when I'm out of sorts and don't feel like doing what I should. Have given myself a goal of -22 lbs by June 1. If I think about the total I need to lose I could get seriously depressed. LOL

Keep up the good work girls.

Joanne

I don't have scales and don't plan to get a new set anytime soon, so not sure how much weight I've lost. Having sinus problems, so probably will go to the doctor over the next or so and I'll know then.

But, eating healthier and staying very active and that was my goal. Losing weight is secondary. It will happen if I keep eating healthy and stay active. I refuse to obsess!!

I'm not doing well on the weightloss but I'm continuing with my exercise program, step aerobics 3-5 times a week so I'm maintaining at the moment but really would like to lose some more. I'm going to visit my Dad in England for 3 weeks in February so that is not going to be good for eating sensibly but maybe I can walk some of it off.

Okay, I'm posting for applause/amazed sounds. I went to a baby shower/open house yesterday afternoon. They had food everywhere and cake, candy, chips & dips - you name it. I had 3 pretzels and 1 corn chip with salsa and a glass of sparkling water. I even helped cut the cake and didn't snitch a crumb! I was absolutely amazed! Of course, I almost choked on my halo on the way home. lol

Sounds like everyone is trying. Hooray! I went to dr. on Friday. Discovered that the drs. scale is 5 lbs. heavier than the home scale. This from the nurse. So does that mean that we are LOTS LIGHTER than the scale says? My scale weighs heavy to start with and then his is 5 lbs. heavier? The Pilates shapes...It doesn't necessarily drop the weight, OH..... The body, it's a changing ...the weight , it stays the same. That isn't very inspirational..... Is it? I'm Glad some of us are seeing results!!! Dawn, Keep at the steps...Just watch the knees. Love to ALL

Just remember Dancer, muscle weighs more than fat. If you're changing shape/inches you're doing great!

Yippee!!!
Way to go Joanne! I have weigh in Thursday night. We didn't go last week because meeting was cancelled due to snow. So.......hoping for the best. I am so wanting to break that 50 pound mark. I think I will get new energy when I can say I have lost that much. 1.8 is a huge loss for one week. You must be doing something right!

It's called paying attention Kat. I was not writing down what I was eating and getting carried away with amounts too. Just decided to "just do it"

OH, yes! Journaling is the only way to go. And I just saw a report on my MSNBC page talking about how portion sizes are 60% larger than in the past and that is contributing to obesity problems. I really have to watch those sizes, but after a year, I am doing much better. It seems it really helps now and then to break out those measuring cups and recheck yourself.

It's GREAT to hear my words coming back at me!!! I'm heading for the chilis and hot mustard to budge my metabolism. Not every day though...Burning out the stomach isn't an option. LOL The Pilates really is reshaping and I also know it took time to put this on. Dawn, keep at the step work-out. It will pay off! Joanne, Lynne. Go for it!! And Congrats. Dancer

A friend and I just rejoined WW last Monday night. We have to drive 50 miles but with two sharing the trip, that's not bad. We are both life time members. Unfortunately, the last few years I got sloppy and enjoyed every cookie and snack that I didn't need. Now I'm looking at 30 lbs. But I did it once, and I'm sure I can do it again. Really interested in the Pilates discussion. Didn't realize it was a breathing exercise as well. Saw some of the machines on QVC but didn't buy. I have two pieces that I need to get on instead of just dust!! I'm enjoying really paying attention and I think the newer method for tracking your consumption is so much easier than years ago when I joined. I'll check in and report as I know I'm going to need your kind words of reinforcement too. Good luck to all of you that are working on your own goals. Hugs Marjorie
