 WEIGHT WATCHER'S AT HOME
Author: Virginia Belle

Would like to try Weight Watcher's At Home, but the $99 price tag is a little too steep for my budget right now. Anyone know of a used kit anywhere?

Weight Watchers is a fantastic program, but for me one of the most important components was the accountability of the weekly meeting, as well as the motivational leader. Trying to do it alone and home would not have been very successful for me. By the way, I lose 68# in 2002.

Congratulations Susan. I wish I had time for meetings. Just can't fit another thing in right now. Have an elderly mother that needs lots of attention, plus work, home, garden, etc., etc. I know WW is a good program. I have a friend doing the home program now and she has lost 11 pounds. I have about 20 to lose.

Brenda, I know how difficult it is to fit meetings into a busy schedule. If you try the home program, maybe you can get together with your friend--by phone if nothing else--and be accountable to each other. No matter what program you try, it's your mind set that will make the difference. The advantage of WW is that it teaches you healthy choices and a lifestyle which you can keep up with when the weight is gone. Trust me, THAT is the hardest part!

I really thought I wanted to do WW at home myself, but now that I go to meetings every week, I am not sure I would have done so well on my own, I do have several friends at work that have used WW sucessfully... and kept it off... I really love the program and if you cna be self motivated the at home program is a great way to lose weight! I do lov emy meeitngs but if time were wn issue for me I can see doign it at home...

Just went to my 11th meeting and have lost 17 1/2 lbs. I enjoy the meetings and have gotten several recipes and ideas of things that work at the meetings. I think they are a big reason that I have made it this far. I would have been further but, we had company for two weeks that wouldn't eat chicken, fish, turkey or most vegetables. It is hard to cook two separate meals when you are already cooking three meals a day and not use to doing even that.

17 1/2 pounds in 11 weeks is GREAT--with or without company! I agree the WW meetings are a great encouragement and help. It would be quite a challenge feeding people who won't eat all the good things you mentioned. How did you manage it? I'm thinking turkey burgers for me, hamburgers for you, but for 2 weeks?????

I think going to the meetings is great also. WW gives a meeting option also. If you cannot make the weekly meeting you can make at least one a month,,,,,,,the fee is different from the weekly fee. This gives you the opportunity for group support and meeting flexibility. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Years ago I lost weight on the WW program very successfully. Meetings are not for me. I would also be interested in the new home program. I really don't need or want group support.

I did the at home program in 2002 and lost 39lbs. I love weight watchers! I became pregnant in 2003 with my third child and gained it all back plus some. I am currently on program again after all the ho;iday cooking and baking and eating! The at home program is very easy to do. You just have to be totally devoted and have the frame of mind that nothing is going to stand in your way. You've got to tell yourself that you've got to do this for yourself. And you have to drink the water! Lots of water. In 2002 I drank 6 liters of water a day. Now I'm only drinking 3 liters a day plus my diet coke. And I exercise 30 minutes a day with an exercise video 5 days a week. If I don't exercise and drink the water. I don't loose the weight. Also, I believe that the at home kit is worth every penny and then some!!!!!! Best purchase I ever made!!!
Hope this helps,
Wendy

Brenda....you have to do what works best for you. I love the meetings and really look forward to "my" time every Thursday night. You deserve your own special hour, just for you. If you choose the home program, that is great...but you must promise you will stay with the program. Don't steer away from it because no one is "watching" you. Susan B and CGarr....a big congrats to you for your healthy life style, isn't it great the way you feel? I still can't call W.W. a diet....I eat so many different things.

My goodness, after all this time, you folks are still reading the old posts. Thanks for all the good info. I'm off to check out the points site. Neon, sure is good to see your posts. I remember your great posts on the embroidery forum when I first went there. I'm not on any special "diet" right now, in fact, I had the term. I'm just trying to eat more fruits and veggies and less fat and sweets. Seems to be working, I've llost about 12 lbs. I need to pick up the excerise, but after a long day at work, have a hard time doing exercise. Would like to lose about 20 more. Thanks for all the encouragement.

Does Weight Watchers offer couselors over the phone like someother programs do? That would really be a help to those of you that can't leave the house. The weekly meetings are good because they offer inspiration, tips, encouragements, ideas, motivation, recipies and more. It's also nice to buddy up with someone there and motivated each other during the week.

If you are a motivated person then the home program works just fine. My Mom is doing it and she's lost around 25 pounds I think.

I joined WW about 2 years ago. Lost some weight, got bored with counting points, and then would want to use all of my points on sweet stuff, and ice cream. They have a new program out now and I think it's good to give people a choice.

One of the nice things you can do if you are on WW, is have a weigh-in buddy, like Jennilee says. I have been going since August and last week had weighed in with a 52.2 loss. Tonight (Thursday) is another meeting. I have learned so many tricks, food ideas, recipes, etc., that I would be thrilled to share with anyone. If I can help anyone out with information, please don't hesitate to contact me. Maybe an internet weight-loss pal would be a help to someone. If anyone thinks this would help work for them, email me direct at riverhome@charter.net Carol
