What type of thread do I use to repair drawn thread work?

The finest you can find. Try Lacis in Berkely CA for likely candidates. They have a website, but don't have it bookmarked - try a google search.

Some of the threads are actually missing, and what is there looks a little bit like embroidery threads, so I'm a bit confused.

Well, without being able to see it, I don't know - I understood you to say the fabric has split/separated, and I was thinking of trying to stabilize that before doing anything else. The drawn thread work I am familiar with has been done on cotton or linen fabric with a similar thread for the hemstitching and decorative stitches.

I used your advice and with 100wt. thread I stabilized the area that was splitting, kind of like darning. It was perfect. Thank you.

I also used the fine thread to repair the drawn thread work, and simply doubled the thread, and then wrapped it a few times. It blended perfectly and I doubt anyone, even with magnifying glass, could see the repair there. Thank you so much!
