 pants cuff/hemming tool
Author: Ann Parker

Hello Everyone,
I hope someone can help me. I've been racking my brain trying to find this sewing tool. I know I have seen it before, but can't remember the exact name or the catalog in which I've seen it advertised.

The tool I am speaking of is a hemmer of some sort. It helps you evenly cuff pants or hem pants. If I remember correctly, it is rectangular, and you slide it in the pants leg? It's not the Dritz Ez Hemmer. I have that. This is a different sort of tool. I also remember it being quite expensive for what it was, but it was supposed to pay for itself in the way of alterations. I thought I saw it in Clotilde, but I have searched under every name I can think of. If you have any idea, please help. I have so many pants to hem; I thought this would make it faster.
Thanks,
Gretchen

Hi, is this a measuring tool? Right now I can't think of anything except the rectangular metal plate with markings on it to turn up a hem. That might be the EZ hemmer you're talking about. That baby can get really hot when ironing up a hem! I usually use a seam guide with the little slide set at the hem depth I need.

Thanks for your reply. I guess it is a sort of measuring tool. I remember reading that it made hemming or making cuffs for pants effortless. It was almost "automatic". Yes, that EZ Hemmer does get hot! I've burnt myself on it. I, too, use the seam guide, but this notion was suppose to automatically set your entire hem in one motion. Wish I could remember where I saw it or what it was called. I can't seem to locate it through Google.

You have checked Nancy's Notions as well as Clothilde? There is another place - help me out, ladies - I think is called Newark Sewing (or tailoring) supplies, it is up in New Jersey, and they have some things that I don't find elsewhere, but it has been awhile since I ordered from them. God good service when I did. I think they advertise in Threads.

Are you thinking about a Magic cuffer? Here is the link to Atlantic Thread company.

I brought this notion but I can not figure out how to use it. The notion is called a Magic cuffer. The product description states "Here's an easy way to do cuffs. Set #1 includes three sizes, 1 1/4", 1 1/2", and 1 3/4", you can use as a template for cuffs and hems."

Does anyone know how to use this notion?
Thanks
