I spent Valentine's Day in the surgery center having my eye repaired. I face-planted on a table after missing the last step of the stairs (no, there were no drugs or alcohol involved, just clumsiness, I guess). I was lucky that the best doctor for this kind of surgery had a cancellation that day. He repaired a lacerated tear duct and tendon and the lower lid was lacerated to the bone. Plus, I have some nice Frankenstein stitches on the bridge of my nose from where the bridge of my glasses lacerated the bridge of my nose. I'm told the glasses probably saved me from losing an eye. My left eye is still swollen shut and I resemble those pictures of poor women who have suffered a severe facial beating (which I guess I did, just not by a fist), but I'm on the mend.
