Well I am sort of in the same situation - my bedroom tv is a sony 50 2 Saturdays ago it worked just fine in the afternoon - evening would not turn on... So I went to check out tvs and had sort of decided on a 55 inch Sanyo smart tv omg this is going to sound really off but the reason I chose it is the BASE as in stand....... I bought a 50 inch Samsung for the great room last year when I got it home the base which are 4 spread out legs were too wide apart to sit above the fireplace on the mantle - bedroom next door to me has 50 inch smart tv and it fits on the mantle above the fireplace which is double sided... so armed with my disappoint from last tv I purchased I set out to check out smart first off and base next and then price ok so not how a man buys a tv... next to arrange some help getting it home - ok got that taken care of... went to bed and this little voice in my head said....... hmmm you know that Lent starts in 2 days dontcha perhaps since you have few bad habits left... no smoking no drinking no casino no drugs no fast food no coca cola addiction (kicked thata last year for lent) mostly gave up chocolate.l.. switched to hard candy humbugs... 20 calories per.... so voice suggested that I postpone the purchase of that tv until lent is just about over - Maybe Good Friday would be soon enough...... so here I sit with no bedroom tv and it really is way harder than the coca cola.... have not had one for 13 months yes occasionally would love a cold coke but not happening.
I really am very confused about the death of my 50 inch SONY ages ago tvs showed sign of wear or imminent death the vertical hold went or the colour had a lot of red on the screen or static or some hit of a problem often you cou ld just replace a tube but this sucker just DIED!!!!! poof - could not believe it - still cant... changed batteries in remote - even got remote from great room --- and every day I keep trying that remote - guess I am in denial - I was told by savvy male yes plasma screen tvs just die just like that... Since I know no better am not sure the tv which had perfect picture is dead.
