Thanks so much for your help, y'all! I did end up using what y'all suggested. This is Vogue 7958. It's fully lined and also has a seperate slip, camisole, panties, and matching ruffley socks. And yes, all white. :) That's entredeux used in the skirt, and both hems are feather stitched. front, back, skirt, and embroidery. Not bad for a first attempt. It's made from cotton/poly batiste (it needs to be able to get wet) and I also made the piping.

Would love to see your project. However, Photobucket simply says you need to upgrade your account to enable 3rd party viewing.

Sorry about that. I guess photobucket has made some changes. I switched it all over to another host and changed the links.

Oh my, that is lovely. A sweet, sweet dress for a very special occasion. Your love shows in every stitch - blessings for the young lady who will wear this.

I went to your blog to see the white dress, and oh my....I sighed deeply, savoring each picture.
SEW beautiful! Your bullion roses are perfection, and really make the embroidery stand out
as special...and of course nothing says heirloom like white batiste. What a blessing
for the special little girl who gets to wear this dress!

As I read a little of your comments, I noticed you mentioned not using 100% cotton because of
the cost. I completely understand....some cotton batistes are outrageously priced. But I've
discovered voile and cotton for sale online from companies like fabric.com, and others....ebay too,
and only paid around $4 a yard (give or take). The quality was surprisingly good which made me
wonder why I thought I had to pay at LEAST $15 a yard for batiste. Just wanted to share that
thought with you.

I think some poly batiste's are lovely, yours certainly turned out nice, but
for some of the heirloom sewing I've done it's easier to achieve what I'm going for with all
cotton.

Linda, that's Grace's dress from last year. While it's the same cotton/poly sheer mist batiste, it's a different Vogue pattern. I made this one for my best friend's daughter. The slip and undies patterns are the same, even down to the same size, but the embroidery on the slip is different. I admit, I went for something much less complicated than for Gracie. Her dress took three weeks, this whole outfit only took one.
