My ancestry is Scandinavian and Irish and I live in Southern California. I never was a sunbather, but I certainly enjoyed being outside. That was before sunscreen, and now it appears that my skin is paying the price. I noticed a bump on my nose that seemed to be growing. Because of the recent mudslides the road to Santa Barbara was closed, so I took the boat. Really fun! Seems that the bump that got my attention was only a little pre-cancer, but the one I hadn't even noticed and would not have done anything about was an actual basal cell carcinoma. I went back this week to get it removed and it had barely penetrated the first layer of skin. It was right under my eye. I have 5 little stitches and a very bloodshot eye. I am taking "progress" pictures every day and sending them to my 5 year old grandson. I'm not sure which of us is more delighted. I thank God for His care and protection.

Glad you went about the bump, a lot of us are wishing we had been smarter in our young days when laying in the sun as much as possible was our goal.

Take care of that skin cancer. My brother is dealing with his second skin cancer and it isn't pretty.
