Finally, after all the tears and frustration, as well as some delays, I have finished my DGD's Resurrection Day dress. Guess it will have to be for some other occasion, or no occasion now . Thank you so much to all who made recommendations and encouragement. A special thanks to Linda S. for, once again, doing all but coming here to do it herself ! So, first up--here's the repair, with lace around the outside to hide stitching:

Here's the front yoke with the slip underneath the dress:

What the sleeves look like (wish I had placed the hearts a bit lower, but, oh well ):

Full length front:

Full length back (can barely see the bad placket ):

Again, thank you all sew very much!!

This little dress is beautiful. Yes, it took extra effort to "save" it, BUT -- You have now shared your knowledge of what NOT to do with a large group of sewers. You learned new skills, and so did we. Well done!

What a beautiful dress, and you did a perfect job in repairing the tear. I know it's horrible to think of right now but if (when) something like that happens again, you won't ever panic because now you know just what to do. If I remember correctly you're now expert in repairing entredeux and shaped lace. An education the hard way for sure!

Way to go MoDo! I can't even see where the repair was done, and I knew where to look too : )

Your grand daughter will be thrilled to get this dress, no matter when she receives it. Little girls
can't have too many beautiful dresses. I love the hearts, and the ones on the sleeves look great
to me....I've seen them placed in that exact spot on other heirloom dresses.

Thanks for letting us see. All of your hard work surely paid off!
