Hi, I am recently interested in smocking again as a grandmother. I no longer have access to a pleater and am interested in finding someone who may do pleating as a business. I sent a bishop to be pleated at a company in California, but am discouraged that I may have been "taken" as it has been 2 months and the dress has not been returned to me and I can no longer reach the woman by phone. I would be willing to write it off as a bad experience and try again! I would really like to try smocking again before investing in a pleater.

Any ideas for me?!

Welcome to the Forum, Summerhille. You might consider contacting Children's Corner. https://www.childrenscornerstore.com/collections/pleating-services This is a highly reputable company and I believe you will have a good experience with them. Perhaps you will get suggestions from other Forum members. We hope you will visit the Forum often.

If that doesn’t work out, try this site. It is in Canada, but a very skilled lady (she has been in Sew Beautiful magazines several times) and I don’t think mailing across the border would be an issue at all.

I guess I should sell my pleater. Haven't used it in a long loooong time. Guess I could be called a hoarder with all my stuff! Need to sell some horses, too.

I believe these two stores had pleating services in the past. You might contact them to check if they still offer that. http://www.berrypatchfabrics.com/ https://www.sewitup.com/
