So sweet - I love nightgowns on little girls!

Is it a nightgown? I thought it was a jumper . She has such big, beautiful brown eyes .

LOL ... MoDo ... she has incredible blue eyes that everyone comments on, but my daughter prefers that I not post her face on internet sites.

The garment is the Esmee nightgown from Violette Field Threads. She didn't want sleeves for herself, but liked them for Bitty Baby to cover up the arm joints which are not all that attractive.

Perfectly understandable, Lynn! Wish my DIL wouldn't post my DGD's photo up on FB, even though it's only to "Friends". I don't trust that those things are truly private .

May I ask which pattern you use for her bitty baby?

The doll nightgown is also the Esmee pattern, but in 18" doll sizing. I just made it shorter - the chest measurements for American Girl 18" and Bitty Baby are the same.

Grammie - thank you, my daughter and her girls love grandma-made nightgowns. Her big sister has a coordinating Esmee nightgown that I made a couple of months ago with matching pique - also from FF - bodice lined in the print shown in the photo here, and there was a matching Wellie Wisher nightgown. (Pixie Faire pattern.) Big sister told me she would wear grandma nightgowns every night if I made a couple more for her. LOL

I have had this fabric for a very long time, at least 10 years. It came from Farmhouse Fabrics and is almost a voile weight - somewhere between a quilting cotton weight and batiste and finely woven. The selvege identification said Classic Cottons/FCI 1996 - googling that doesn't yield much - a couple of sites called the fabrics Vintage, so it's likely the company is no longer making fabric, which is sad. It was lovely to work with.

It's beautiful Lynn! And pretty enough to be a "for good" dress!

I love pretty nightgowns too, and have a vintage pattern to make myself a summer
gown out of cotton batiste. I got a bolt of nice white batiste at a sale, and finally have
enough to make a full gown and robe for me. They take quite a bit of fabric...especially
the adult size.

That's so pretty!! And a matching doll nightie!! A little girl's dream--especially when made with love by Gramma!!!

I have the Kathy Harrison book and embroidery designs for nightclothes for ladies, girls, and dolls--but haven't gotten up the courage to do one yet!! Maybe this year.....
