This is a double posting so more people might see it. I signed up for Janice Fergusons' free heirloom sewing class. The one through Brother and Classic Sewing Magazine. Janice posted about it in the Machine Sewing forum.

I need to find a supplier for the necessary fabric and laces. Local shops here in Utah do NOT have French lace. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

There are plenty of online shops that can help with that. Farmhousefabrics.com, PBJK.com, elegantstitches.com, Chadwickheirlooms.com - I've ordered from all of these places and had excellent service, quick shipping and great products. Can't wait to see what you make. :)

I agree with KathyD--Chadwick Heirlooms and Quilting is a wonderful store in Richmond, VA. It's about an hour drive from my home--a real treat!

How I wish it was so close to me. This is HARD, choosing lace from photos on a computer monitor!

Neva - depending on how soon you need the lace, can you email them to ask for perhaps 2" samples?

PS - I have not ordered from every one of these sellers, but I did collect the links from several who had posted links for me about 9 years ago when I made my daughter's first born a Christening gown. I found Baltazors and Farmhouse Fabrics wonderful to deal with. I ordered from a couple other places that the links were no longer good, so I left those out. I also ordered supplies from Martha Pullen and of course, you can't get them there anymore.

Items I ordered from various sellers: lace & tatting - mostly Baltazors, cotton organdy, handkerchief linen, heirloom embroidery thread, sewing thread, stabilizer, IEC designs, silk ribbon, Petite Poche pattern.

Tried to attach a photo, but not successfully ... oh well.

In the past, many in the forum have ordered fine cotton laces from Luc the Laceman. He has excellent prices and a nice variety. Perhaps someone will have recent information about him and will post.

I second Barbara's suggestion of Luc the Laceman. His online website is Cottonlace.com I've ordered
from him many times and his prices are terrific. Nice lace, big selection and while he's overseas he
has fast shipping. Luc has great customer service too.

The only downside I see, ordering from Luc, is that his prices aren't listed online for the various laces.
One must send him an email asking for price (unless he's changed that). But he responds the same day
and I think it's worth it. Actually, his prices are so low I don't ask for quotes anymore.

My fabric and laces are ordered. But I am certain this won't be the only Christening Dress I shall attempt. Am sew excited to try lace shaping! Luc the Laceman, here we come..... Thank you, Barbara and Linda, thanks to everyone sharing these great hints.
