I have an old Emb Garden purse set.. the plain or quilted purse designs,, it calls for tearaway stabilizer to be used,, has anyone done this set or the updated one using mesh cutaway,,, I don't mind using the tearaway,, but is it so much thicker,,, I have used the cutaway in other purse designs,, and they turned out fine,,, just wondering about trying it in this one,,,

No, I haven't.

I do use the iron-on mesh for things I don't want to have so much weight and like the mesh a lot. I think it all depends on the combination of stabilizer and fabric and hooping it well. Sometimes I use two layers of mesh cross-hatched if the design is dense and I don't want so much thickness as tearaway. For me, if I want something to be a little stiff, I use the tearaway. If I want something that is dense just in some areas and the fabric needs more support, I use iron-on mesh. I only have iron-on mesh so I have no experience with the mesh that isn't iron-on.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/ITHMachineEmb/?fref=nf If you do Facebook, she has an active group which can probably answer your question, or try contacting Reen at her Embroidery Garden website. She seems to be very helpful to her customers. I haven't made these bags myself though I have many In the Hoop designs for them.
