I am curious what the price is for the new Janome 12000? Maybe Shirley would know.

Not Shirley, but my ds in AZ said that she saw one at a dealership there "sale priced" at (are you sitting down??!! lol) for $8,999 . I quickly went & kissed all my older Janomes & reassured them that they were in no danger of being "traded in "". I think it depends on the dealership & I recall Shirley mentioning a much better price in Canada.

Yes no sles tax in Alberta but 5% GST which can be reclaimed at the border - for about $7500 US and I am confident that NO ONE ANYWHERE will beat that price.

I was told that Janome would not let the dealers sell the machine for less than $8999. For that price, I will not buy that machine!!! Also, some of the features on the 11000 are not on the 12000. Shirley, let us no if you buy the machine.

Apparently $12,000 is the m.s.r.p., but generally dealers won't go any lower than $8,999, if that. However, if you're trading in another machine the price will be lower...Shirley has been quoted an unusually low price, but hey, we should all be so lucky! ;)

When I purchased my CV and Diamond my dealer was not permitted to give a cash discount but gave me lots of freebies including the 4D software.

I don't think she will be selling many at $12,000!!!! It was all I could do to buy the 11000se and I love it. The only thing I wish it had was a larger hoop to do some ITH projects. No, there will be no 12000 for me and that is fine!

Hi Ladies
I am new to the forum and I was so surprised to see a discussion about a Janome machine as it seems every one uses the Diamond. The launch of the 12000 is this week in Winnipeg (Canada) and it is listed at $8995.00. This includes a starter pkg of embroidery thread and stabilizer valued at $250.00. We have only one dealership here that sell Janome so I don't imagine the price will go down for some time with no competition. I am planing on going to see it out of curiosity. I have the 1100SE and I do enjoy using it. I don't use it to it's fullest capacity though because the lessons I recieved from the dealership were so basic. They don't offer classes where you make projects and really get to know the machine. I would love Martha to have a Janome licensing. Does anyone know if she has ever had one?

Not everyone uses a Diamond Pat.

I have a Bernina 830 as does Mizlilly (she is a thousand times more proficient than I will EVER be!) I remember how I kicked and screamed at the 12,000.00 price tag for the 830 and no, I did not buy a brand new one. I brought a lot of business to my dealer, including sales of 4 other 830's so when he offered me a "gently used" 830 for my machine and a way under 12,000.00 price on the 830, it was an offer I could NOT refuse! However, as with any brand of machine, when you go to one as drastically different (my previous Bernina was a 730 and worlds apart from the 830 in features!) from what you are used to, the change in features creates a huge, HUGE, learning curve as I am finding out with my 830. The only way to get past it is to use the machine as often as possible! I remember thinking Bernina was either quite brave or quite stupid for bringing out that machine at a time when the economy was suffering so badly (no better now, as we all know!), but still many folks purchased it. I am glad I waited until I was emotionally ready to brave the machine! I,too, am curious to see what this new Janome will do. One of the ladies in my ASG chapter is a diehard Janome girl, so I am sure she will "report in" about it very soon! Let us know what you find out about it? Or Shirley may beat you to it! LOL

I've been reading this.How can anyone afford to buy those machines?Mind you, mine isn't a Janome or the other brand.I was very lucky to get my new Baby Lock.Connie in CO

Pat in Winnipeg - I have had Janome machines since 1989 my first Memory Craft 8000 - then I got the 10001 and then 11000se and also 300e and 350e - I am not sure what my dealer is offering with it but I am thinking that I should go and see it. I had little in the way of lessons on any of the machines - I hated the classes at the Janome dealer in Calgary - they had us cramped in like sardines bad enough but worse still was it was a Janome class not a 11000se class or 10001 class. They have since stopped that idea of blending people with other extinct Janome machines with new owners it just was not fair to the new owners. We were newbies and here we were trying to complete a project and learn our machine with people who had had their machines for years. OK our classes were free you just paid for the supplies and you could buy things you needed for class for 20% off the other machine owners paid $90 for the classes Sept to May once a month. I went once and never went back.
I think that if you sit with your machine and your instruction manual and work through it you dont need the dealer and while he has been selling Janome machines longer than I have had Janome machines - the staff do not know very much. I now go to another dealer out of town who treats me better. So if I buy the 12000 I will have had 30=45 minutes of lesson on it.

I so badly need a partner in crime - I used to have 2 friends that I travelled with - we belonged to the same Fraternal Organization - we had a blast going shopping. I remember when I first bought my Janome 8000 one of the girls had an Elna with cams at home but she was wanting a serger - so off we went to the Janome dealer who sold Pfaff and ??? brands - I bought the Janome 240D serger and I believe that she bought the Elna computerized one - we were then invited back to the store to sew a sweatshirt on the serger - well she was a wonderful travelmate but she was not very quick to catch on - and I had my sweatshirt finished in 90 minutes and 3 hours later she was still not done. Of course she had to pick a project with doublt cuffs and double neck - I dont think she finished hers.
I was working and very well paid - my late husband had a very good job - she was retired and lived with a cousin who was still working at the Red Cross. Her expenses were minimum so she could afford to cater to her whims. Her cousin was not in the least interested in any of her interests - she had SharPei dogs - she had Parrots - she had grow lights for her African Violet expansive collection - her interests were often fleeting. The sewing serger one was fleeting - her bread machine was another. I wish that she was still able to indulge her whims - she was 20 years older than me so.... If Joyce who lives in Calgary 5 minutes away from me or so by car says she really really wants to go see that machine 90 minutes out of town - I AM GONE. I am thinking that for the first time in my life I should buy myself an $$$$ birthday present. It's name is Harmony and oh I am sure we could make the sweetest music. The seed is planted - some seeds just take longer to germinate.

Hi ladies! Well, I'm a Janome user here! I started out with the 9000 maybe 15 years or so ago. I now have the 11000 upgraded to the latest version of the SE. I am seriously looking at the 12000 and waiting on my dealer to check on the latest incentive that Janome is now offering...$1200 worth of gifts spread out over six months from January to June of 2012. Now personally I would rather Janome just sold the 12000 for $1200 less!

My dealer had given me a quote for a trade-in and then just today I found out I could get a very low interest rate. I hate the idea of financing for a machine but plan to expand my little home based sewing business. I hope I will be able to make and sell things on Etsy as well as do my sewing and alterations.

That's the plan, God willing! I love my Janome machines. The lady at the dealer's store told me if I buy the 12000 she will be training me with six hours of instruction! Three hours on the machine and three on the new software! I have a strong feeling I will be overwhelmed! But I like challenges!
