Not everyone uses a Diamond Pat. I have a Bernina 830 as does Mizlilly (she is a thousand times more proficient than I will EVER be!) I remember how I kicked and screamed at the 12,000.00 price tag for the 830 and no, I did not buy a brand new one. I brought a lot of business to my dealer, including sales of 4 other 830's so when he offered me a "gently used" 830 for my machine and a way under 12,000.00 price on the 830, it was an offer I could NOT refuse! However, as with any brand of machine, when you go to one as drastically different (my previous Bernina was a 730 and worlds apart from the 830 in features!) from what you are used to, the change in features creates a huge, HUGE, learning curve as I am finding out with my 830. The only way to get past it is to use the machine as often as possible! I remember thinking Bernina was either quite brave or quite stupid for bringing out that machine at a time when the economy was suffering so badly (no better now, as we all know!), but still many folks purchased it. I am glad I waited until I was emotionally ready to brave the machine! I,too, am curious to see what this new Janome will do. One of the ladies in my ASG chapter is a diehard Janome girl, so I am sure she will "report in" about it very soon! Let us know what you find out about it? Or Shirley may beat you to it! LOL
