I have a baby quilt that has hand embroiderd blocks, in varying designs. Any suggestions as to what type background design to quilt. Some of the designs are done in satin stitch. I want this to be used, but do not want to destroy the handwork in the designs. The border is hearts in a vine design. Can I quilt each block in a different background design, or will it look funny?

IMHO if the blocks are each different the quilting can be different in each. Then I would try to use the same quilting in the sashing and or borders to unify the quilt. I would keep it as simple as possible to let the embroidery designs shine.

I forgot to ask if you were machine or hand quilting. I would prefer a hand quilting of course. But the machine quilting I have seen is better and simple background work could be accomplished.

I'm sure what ever you do it will be great.

Trying again to post picture. It keeps telling me 'file too large', but it is only one picture. Any ideas?

Thans for the advice Jacki. I am attaching a photo of the quilt top so you can see what I am working with. Each embroidered block is 12 inches square. I am hand quilting. I want the quilt to be used so need to quilt as much as possible.

You need to resize your picture down to 200 KB or MG (I don't remember if it's KB or MB, but it is 200).
